On the afternoon of October 17, the School of Civil Engineering and Architecture convened its 2026 National Natural Science Foundation (NSFC) Project Application Launch Ceremony in Conference Room E209. The event aimed to enhance faculty research capabilities and advance NSFC application initiatives. Professor Yang Xiaoguang from Tongji University was invited to deliver a guidance lecture. The ceremony was chaired by Dean Zhu Fangzhi, with Vice Dean Xu Weikai and all doctoral faculty members in attendance.
Dean Zhu Fangzhi began by introducing Professor Yang and extending a warm welcome. Vice Dean Xu Weikai then summarized the 2025 NSFC application cycle, outlining the 2026 application strategy and specific measures. He analyzed the review feedback from the previous year, acknowledged strengths demonstrated by faculty, and encouraged continued confidence in submission efforts.
Professor Yang’s guidance focused on three key areas: first, the importance of persistent academic output accumulation; second, active participation in academic conferences to identify research trends and leading teams through problem-oriented approaches; third, staying abreast of cutting-edge technologies and methodologies to strengthen proposal writing. He expressed willingness to provide personalized guidance to improve proposal quality.
In closing, Dean Zhu thanked Professor Yang and urged faculty to strive for excellence. Vice Dean Xu detailed the upcoming application timeline. Faculty members expressed commitment to developing competitive proposals for the 2026 cycle.
