On June 13, 2025, Professor Yang Xiaoguang, the director of the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) Research Center of Tongji University, was invited to visit the School of Architectural Engineering of Suqian University. In the E209 meeting room, he delivered a cutting-edge academic report titled "Building a Future Technology Research Institute to Facilitate the Development of New Engineering Disciplines and Specialties of Suqian University" to the teachers and students. Teachers from the School of Architectural Engineering and some from the School of Information Engineering attended the meeting, which was presided over by Zhu Fangzhi, the dean of the School of Architectural Engineering.

Professor Yang Xiaoguang focused on the core field of transportation engineering, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). He first expounded the definition of transportation engineering, then explained the purpose of university education, and further extended his thoughts on the transportation talent cultivation system. By comparing the undergraduate education concepts of world-renowned universities, he clarified the disciplinary framework of the School of Transportation at Tongji University. An in-depth analysis was conducted on the integrated development of artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, advanced sensing technology and other disciplines and specialties, and it was pointed out that the current main development direction is interdisciplinary studies.

The teachers on the spot responded enthusiastically and had in-depth discussions with Professor Yang on hot issues such as professional development and artificial intelligence. This lecture effectively broadened the academic horizons of the college's teachers and provided instructive references for the integration of relevant majors in the School of Architectural Engineering into the new engineering development trend and the service of local smart city construction.
