To stimulate students' innovative thinking, deepen their practical understanding of structural design, integrate theoretical knowledge with engineering practice, and cultivate students' teamwork ability and engineering innovation literacy, the college held the " 'Tong' Constructs Fantastic Towers, Craftsmanship Blossoms Naturally" tower design activity on November 23, 2025.
During the activity, participating teams skillfully used materials such as wooden chopsticks and rubber bands. Combining with the principles of architectural mechanics, they conducted structural design and component reinforcement to create tower models with both stability and creativity. Each team underwent a load test with weights during the load-bearing evaluation. The 20th group of Class 1, Civil Engineering (2025) stood out with an impressive load-bearing result of 48.9kg, while the 27th group of Class 1, Surveying and Mapping Engineering (2024) won the overall first place with excellent structural design, novel appearance, and outstanding load-bearing capacity.
This activity, which deeply integrates theory and engineering practice, effectively stimulated students' innovative thinking, enhanced their teamwork and hands-on practical abilities, and enabled them to deeply understand the rigor of structural design and the importance of scientific application.
